May was considerably warmer than average and this was especially noticeable during daytime. This was one of the warmest Mays in the last 70 years, and in most areas it is ranked as third to fifth on record.
During the month there were two-three short Sharav events. Besides that, a large portion of the days in May were warmer than average, and as a result the month, eventually, ended as one of the warmest compared to the past.
In May it did not rain at all, and the summary of the 2020/21 rainfall season reveals that rainfall amounts in the entire season exceed the average in the Coastal Plain, are close to average in the north of the country, and are below it in the central and southern mountains. In a countrywide perspective, the 2020/21 season ended as close to average, after two very rainy seasons. This is unusual since after two such seasons a scarce rainy season is mostly obtained.
