Avoid swimming close to wave breakers due to the risk of rip currents.
Avoid standing on jetties, wave breakers and other places with a chance of being hit by waves.
Consider distancing marine vessels from coastal infrastructure, jetties and wave breakers.
Consult with the relevant authorities and consider moving marine vessels out to sea.
Significant risk of drowning due to very high waves.
Significant risk of injury from very high waves e.g. due to rocks in the water.
Significant risk of being carried out to deep water by rip currents and whirlpools.
Significant risk of waves breaking and changing direction.
Rowboats and small watercraft: risk of unmooring, and falling cargo along/near the coast.
Risk of small watercraft and rowboats capsizing.
Serious danger posed to marine vessels entering/exiting marinas/harbours; risk of running aground or hitting infrastructure close to the shore.
If very windy, risk of injury from objects being tossed around by strong winds.
