A brief but extreme rain event has affected our region. In the Nahariya area, over 130 mm of rain fell, which sharply shattered the daily rainfall record for the month of September; the monthly record was also broken. A significant portion of the precipitation occurred in under two hours, resulting in extreme rainfall intensities that broke records for durations of one hour and longer. Substantial amounts of rain also fell in other parts of northern Israel, including inland areas such as the Golan Heights, the Eastern Galilee, and the Gilboa region.
