November was considerably warmer than average. In the series of spatial measurements dating back to 1950, this was the hottest November on record regarding the daily mean temperature (the combined temperature of day and night). November was particularly notable for high nighttime temperatures compared to the past, whereas in terms of daily maximum temperatures, it ranked third after 1962 and 2010. Most days of the month were warmer than usual, and two long heatwaves prevailed during the month: one at the beginning and the other after mid-month. During both heatwaves, temperature records were broken relative to the time of year.
There were three rain events in November. One rain spell lasting two to three days occurred in the middle of the month, in addition to two short events lasting about 24 hours each during the latter part of the month. Total monthly rainfall amounts on a national scale were close to average but were characterized by significant regional variability. It should also be noted that two of the rain events featured exceptional and even unprecedented rainfall intensities, meaning that a large portion of the rain fell within short periods.
