The year 2025 was 1.1°C warmer than the average (1991–2020). Historically, it ranks fifth in the series of measurements since 1950, being cooler than 2024. The year was characterized by numerous anomalous and extreme weather events, some of which broke historical records. These include the record-breaking Sharav events in April and May; summer heatwaves—during one of which 49.7°C was recorded at Gilgal and records for high minimum temperatures were broken; the daily rainfall record in September; rain events of anomalous intensity in November and December, and others.
