July was warmer than average, not to an extreme degree, and was cooler than the Julys of the preceding three years (2023 to 2025).
The first part of the month was relatively mild, with temperatures close to average and even slightly below average, in the mountainous and inland regions, alongside few hours of significant heat stress along the coastal plain. During the second part of the month, a warming trend set in, bringing above normal temperatures and an intensification of heat stress. Toward the end of the month, a heatwave established itself, intensifying in early August.
Due to the warmer second half of July, the month concluded with daytime temperatures 0.7 to 0.8°C above average on a nationwide scale, and nighttime temperatures approximately 0.5°C above average. This positive anomaly is moderate relative to conditions further west in the Central Mediterranean and Central Europe, and even more so in Western Europe, where temperatures were several full degrees above average due to multiple, prolonged heatwaves throughout the month.
