January rainfall was considerably above average and it was exceptionally cold. Rainfall amounts in many areas were 1.5 – 2 times the average. In several regions, this was the second or third January on record. The significant rains caused floods, taking the lives of five people.

In the northern and central parts of the country, the accumulated rainfall from the beginning of the season is more than 150% for the same period average. In several locations, the average for the entire season has already been exceeded.
